Description

According to legend, a princess fell in love with a shepherd. Learning of this, the king forbade his daughter to meet him and locked her in a fortress. Besides her fairytale beauty and other virtues, the princess possessed luxuriant, long hair. She made a rope from her tresses, by which the shepherd climbed to his beloved. One day, the king saw the lovers meeting, became enraged, ordered his daughter's hair to be cut off, and thrown into the gorge. From the girl's scream, the rock split, and a waterfall appeared at that spot. Days later, the princess disappeared. It is said she threw herself into the gorge and vanished in the water. Even today, some near the waterfall hear whispers: it is the princess who threw herself into the water, transformed into a mermaid, calling for her beloved every evening.
